My morning walk

I used to get up at break of day
For a morning walk in the park
An endless foot-path before me lay
As birds in the trees sing, "Hark!"

Day after day, as weather permits
I'd go in the cool air of dawn
To the park, for my morning walk to repeat
Of which I had grown very fond

One day a deadly plague swept the land
Bringing much worry and fear
The Ruler of the Land gave a stern command
Forbidding my morning walk dear

In the blink of an eye, I'm stranded at home
Suffered not in the park again
Within my house I can but roam
Only memories of my walks remain.
