"Tread quietly",
the soldiers were told,
As they moved out to capture
the enemy stronghold.
"Tread slowly",
the hikers were reminded,
To keep close to their guide
so that they will not be stranded.
"Tread cautiously"
we should ourselves remind,
When going forth on paths unknown,
lest we end up in a bind.
"Tread wisely"
in many books we've read,
That fools are wont to venture
where angels dare not tread.
