Ripe

The best time to do something
is when time is ripe,

Not sooner,
for then you may not be prepared for the task,

Nor later,
by then the opportunity may have passed.

The best time to say something
is when time is ripe,

Not sooner,
for then the listener may not be persuaded,

Nor later,
by then your words may no longer be needed.

So the best time for work to be done,
and the right time for words to be spoken,

is when time is ripe.
