I wish to visit distant places
to stand on distant lands
To hear people engrossed in chatter
in words I don't understand
I wish to walk across the
border to the country next to mine
To meet up with my grandchildren
and see happy faces shine
I wish to go out for a dinner
with family and loved ones dear
In a busy crowded restaurant
without worry, without fear
I wish to greet my next door neighbour
with Good Morning and a smile
Without hiding behind a mask
Nor keep an arm's length all the while.
I wish.
